The Event joins forces with Supersport star Anthony West
The Event AG has joined forces with Australian motorcycle star Anthony West for this season’s FIM Supersport World Championship. The collaboration draws on the close relationship shared between ‘The Event’ and West, and sees the company’s distinctive orange and silver logo depicted in a prominent position on the West’s crash helmet.
Former Kawasaki MotoGP rider West, racing this year for the Stiggy Honda team, has enjoyed a competitive start to his 2009 Supersport season, having scored two podium finishes in the six races held so far. He claimed third place in the season-opener, his home GP at Phillip Island, Australia, and followed that up with a second place at Valencia two races later.
The 27-year-old is sixth in the overall standings and will be hoping for a return to the rostrum as the championship heads to the Miller Motorsport Park in the United States for the next round of the series in just over one week’s time.
The Event Director, Michael Bartholemy commented: “We have had a very good relationship with Anthony for a long time and it was natural for us to find a way of working together again. He is one of the top riders in the Supersport championship and he has already proven himself to be a front-runner with podiums at Phillip Island and Valencia. He will wear our logo on his helmet for the duration of this season and we hope he will be able to take The Event to the top step of the podium. We ask our clients and customers to ‘expect a higher level’, and we hope Anthony can also reach this higher level with us. We are confident to forge similar rider deals in the World Superbike and MotoGP championships in the near future. We also hope that Anthony’s schedule will allow him to attend our track days in Valencia on the 7th and 8th of September and Jerez on the 3rd and 4th of November.”
